Perversion. Brutality. Debauchery. What else are friends for?
The Thrill Of The Chase explores a volatile, highly complex relationship between two lifelong friends; the carefree, womanising playboy Charlie, and the hard-working, timid Nicky, who share a stunning penthouse apartment in the heart of the city. When Nicky unexpectedly announces his intentions to turn his back on the bachelor lifestyle and marry his troubled girlfriend Izzy, the affronted Charlie suggests a perverse wager, which will ultimately threaten not only their friendship, but their very existence…
Following in the tradition of David Mamet and Neil LaBute, The Thrill Of The Chase is a brutal, uncompromising, yet darkly comic exploration of masculinity and sexual politics. This is the world premiere of a provocative new work from the acclaimed young British playwright Philip Gawthorne.
Directed by Joel Waage.
Production Stage Manager – Sarah Gleissner*
Starring Ryan Barrentine, Jenna D’Angelo, Kevin O’Callaghan*, and Nicole Samsel.

This Is Not The Play

THIS IS NOT THE PLAY is… well, not really a play. It’s an inside look at the controversial process by which one playwright constructs characters and ultimately a story. Problem is, the playwright has no idea who the characters really are. She isn’t even sure she wants to tell their story. And it doesn’t exactly help that the characters go on strike mid-brainstorm. Watch to see how she gets them to reveal themselves – and their deep, dirty issues – despite deep distrust and mutual prejudice. The bonus? You get a say in what the actual play will be.

All The Way From China
by Barry Levey
Directed by Joel Waage
November 10 – November 21, 2010
at The Gene Frankel Theatre, 24 Bond St, New York.
One year after his girlfriend was killed on campus, Yale dropout Jack holes up in Austin with a temp job, a guitar and an underachieving rich girl who toys with smack. The anniversary of the unsolved murder brings Jack a stream of fresh torments: renewed media attention, additional police interviews, and, weirdest of all, a Yalie named Ralph who arrives at Jack’s door with urgent information. All the Way From China explores how we hoard or share our grief, and asks how close must we be to a tragedy to be entitled to mourn it. Is grief a process of communal healing or competition for personal attention and how far will we go to feel included?
